Preparing your business to face floods

Businesses often face rain and flood related challenges, which often result in considerable losses through property damage as well as disruptions to regular business operations. How ready are YOU to survive and recover from a flood?

This article contains material prepared by Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Sri Lanka (A-PAD SL) (affiliated to A-PAD), an organization aimed at coordinating and supporting disaster preparedness, mitigation, disaster risk reduction, capacity building and relief activities across Sri Lanka.

Facing flood hazards can be done in three stages. Firstly, we should be prepared to face floods before it happens. Then, if we face a flood situation, we should focus on surviving the flood with no or minimal damages. Finally, we should focus on recovering after the flood, should there be damages. These can be summarised as below.
